Job Description

My client, a civil engineering Tier 1 main contractor who operates in the civil engineering sector delivering high‑value infrastructure schemes across the UK, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Survey to join their team in York. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong name and excellent reputation in the civil engineering industry.

Your main duties will include:

  • Reporting to the commercial manager, you will be responsible for working as part of the team delivering a £200m infrastructure project.
  • Working alongside the operations and site delivery team to ensure project viability and cost effectiveness.
  • Monitor and report all project costs/finances.
  • Cash‑flow forecasting.
  • Change management.
  • Sub‑contractor, labour and materials management (placing orders, invoices, price negotiation, etc).
  • Be responsible for cost changes and monitoring throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Final accounts.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Experience of working in a main‑contracting environment with a civil engineering company.
  • Have worked on larger scale infrastructure schemes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Be proficient with IT.
