Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough contract appraisals, negotiations, and secure agreements to minimise risks.
- Implement and lead periodic contract review meetings.
- Analyse contract programmes against actual progress, issuing timely delay notices as required.
- Oversee contract and sub‑contract management and administration, ensuring adherence to contract terms, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor and report on contract expenditure in comparison to budgets and forecasts.
- Proactively identify, value, and agree on variations and extensions of time.
- Manage commercial aspects and control of sub‑contract accounts, including payment preparation, final account work, and dispute resolution.
- Certify payment applications from subcontractors and develop internal financial documents and reports.
- Liaise with the finance department to support accurate cash flow forecasting.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders.
- Drive cost minimisation and value enhancement in projects without compromising on quality.
- Manage change control processes effectively, including early warnings and compensation events.
- Assist in resolving disputes and provide detailed analysis for quotations and tenders.
- Prepare valuations for payment applications and actively participate in financial and progress meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender documents for large projects, including refurbishments and compliance works.
- Conduct cost analysis and risk assessments to identify potential cost‑saving measures.
- Mentor and support the development of graduate and trainee commercial staff.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a senior role, preferably within the construction or related sector, with specific experience in sprinkler systems and mechanical projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships.
- Proficient in relevant software for financial forecasting and contract management.
