Job summary

A Leicester-based civil engineering contractor is hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial and contractual aspects from pre-construction through to final account. This full-time permanent role is based at their Leicester office with hybrid and flexible working.

Key responsibilities include managing costs, cash flow, NEC contracts, subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts, plus providing guidance to project delivery teams and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or QS within civil engineering.
• Working knowledge of NEC form of contract.
• Sound commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing subcontractors, commercial risk and project cashflow.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Administering NEC form of contract.
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment and managing cash flow.
• Identifying, pricing and negotiating compensation events, variations and change control.
• Procuring subcontractors and managing subcontract accounts.
• Preparing interim valuations and agreeing final accounts.
• Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
• Providing commercial support and guidance to project delivery teams.
• Managing project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members where appropriate.
• Contributing to the successful delivery of multi-sector schemes.

Your new role

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
• Working knowledge of NEC form of contract
• Sound commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Experience managing subcontractors, commercial risk and project cashflow
• Full UK driving licence.
