Job description
Overview

This role supports the delivery of a major highways scheme in North Somerset involving a new carriageway, junction construction, earthworks, drainage, and structures. You'll be responsible for commercial management, cost control, reporting, and contract administration to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontract documentation, including terms, pricing, and programme.
  • Manage subcontract packages, interim assessments, and change control.
  • Issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in line with contract requirements.
  • Manage change processes, including Compensation Event Quotations.
  • Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications for payment.
  • Work closely with operational and engineering teams to maintain accurate site records.
  • Produce detailed monthly reports, CVRs, forecasting, and cost plans.
About You
  • Strong understanding of standard forms of contract.
  • Confident IT skills, particularly Excel, Word, and commercial systems (e.g., CEMAR, Oracle).
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Experience working on large projects or multiple smaller schemes.
  • Professional membership (MCIOB/MRICS) desirable.
  • CSCS card required.
  • Excellent time and workload management.
