Job summary

Ipsum is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing Commercial team in the Midlands, with nationwide travel. You will manage the commercial performance of projects, ensuring robust governance, forecasting and commercial controls.

You will lead tender pricing and CVR reviews, manage WIP and final accounts, and coach other commercial colleagues while supporting the wider function's development.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT and/or FIDIC contracts.
• Degree qualification required; RICS or ICES membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead tender pricing, contract reviews and commercial risk management.
• Review tender cashflow forecasts and pricing assumptions.
• Lead CVR reviews and cost-to-complete forecasts.

• Support local cashflow strategies and commercial governance.
• Coach, mentor and manage commercial colleagues.
• Support continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.

Location: Predominately Midlands (Nationwide Travel required)

Employment type: Full Time, Permanent.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Commercial team.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the commercial performance of assigned projects and workstreams, ensuring robust financial governance, accurate forecasting and effective commercial controls. Acting as the primary commercial contact for your business area, you'll support operational teams, manage commercial risk and influence project outcomes while leading and developing commercial colleagues.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of significant commercial activities while supporting the continued development of the wider commercial function.

As a Senior Quantity Suveyor you will

• Managing the commercial performance of assigned projects and workstreams.


• Leading tender pricing, contract reviews and commercial risk management activities.


• Reviewing tender cashflow forecasts and pricing assumptions.


• Leading CVR reviews and challenging cost-to-complete forecasts.


• Providing commercial insight into management accounts and reforecasting processes.


• Managing WIP performance, applications for payment and final accounts.


• Supporting local cashflow strategies and commercial governance.


• Acting as an escalation point for contract administration issues.


• Managing and improving subcontractor performance and commercial processes.


• Providing commercial support and challenge to operational teams.


• Coaching, mentoring and managing commercial colleagues.


• Supporting continuous improvement and commercial best practice initiatives.

About you

Ideally, you'll have experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role, with strong knowledge of NEC, JCT and/or FIDIC contracts and experience managing the commercial lifecycle of projects. You'll be confident leading CVRs, WIP management, forecasting and change control, while managing commercial risk, influencing stakeholders and supporting the development of other commercial team members. A relevant degree qualification is required, with RICS or ICES membership desirable.
