Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support civil engineering and infrastructure projects on a hybrid basis from the Gloucester area. The role features Outside IR35 and a long-term contract, with a competitive day rate and strong focus on cost control and commercial performance.

The successful candidate will manage commercial activities across project lifecycles, liaise with clients and subcontractors, and ensure contractual compliance while driving value and risk

Qualifications

• Proven Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong NEC contract knowledge.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and administration.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the region.

Working on a hybrid basis from the Gloucester area, you will be responsible for managing commercial activities throughout the lifecycle of projects, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance, and effective risk management. You will work closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to drive project success and maximise commercial performance.

This role would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, structures, flood defence, or related sectors.

Experience & Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and administration.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of project cost control and commercial reporting.
• Experience delivering projects within infrastructure, highways, flood alleviation, structures, industrial, or commercial sectors would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently whilst supporting a wider project team.
