Job description

Our client have multiple roles which will involve working on a variety of high-profile water infrastructure and treatment projects located across the South and South East regions, including major sites in both urban and rural environments.

You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and will be expected to take responsibility for the Commercial Management of projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to contribute to critical water sector projects while developing their career within a supportive and dynamic commercial team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform core Quantity Surveyor duties across the commercial management of projects and work packages
  • Liaise with design, construction, and supply chain teams to capture, analyse, and control costs
  • Work collaboratively with the client to ensure business requirements are met and expectations are managed
  • Manage the main contract, ensuring that all contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised in a timely manner
  • Prepare and issue subcontract documentation in line with commercial procedures
  • Support the management and performance of subcontractors, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance
  • Lead the preparation and agreement of applications for payment as a key Quantity Surveyor function
  • Compile project cost and value reports, budgets, and forecasts, supporting accurate and proactive financial control
  • Provide mentorship and support in the development of junior commercial staff, sharing your experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Ensure continuous professional development by participating in networking, conferences, and industry groups to stay up to date with best practices
  • Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, offering constructive and honest feedback
  • Undertake other commercial or project-related duties as required, consistent with the level of responsibility associated with a Quantity Surveyor
  • Present a professional and positive image of the department and wider organisation, maintaining constructive relationships across all levels
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all sensitive commercial and project information

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Working towards or hold chartered membership of a recognised institution
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the water industry
  • Background in utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of NEC3 contracts

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing and developing an individual or a small team
  • Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting from a Quantity Surveyor s perspective
