Job description

A reputable, privately‑owned construction and development company is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team, initially supporting a refurbishment project in Nottingham. The company specialises in high‑quality student accommodation, residential and care/retirement living developments, and has built a reputation for safe, efficient, and innovative delivery.

About the Company

The contractor was established in 2015 and has rapidly grown into a major player in UK accommodation‑based construction — delivering projects for student housing, residential apartments (including build‑to‑rent/sell), and care/retirement living. They operate a “Design to Budget” philosophy, ensuring cost‑effective, value‑driven, and client‑focused project delivery. Their workplaces are underpinned by a culture of innovation, collaboration, sustainability and a commitment to employee well‑being.

Role and Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor actual and forecast costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying cost‑saving opportunities and value‑engineering without compromising quality or safety.
  • Manage commercial risk and implement mitigation strategies where required.
  • Oversee timely agreement of final accounts with the employer and supply‑chain partners.
  • Maintain a proactive awareness of project‑specific health and safety risks; promote and reinforce safe working practices day‑to‑day across the project team.
  • Contribute to the broader commercial team, bringing cost‑control expertise to support future residential, student and care sector developments across the Midlands and beyond.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • The contractor has a strong and growing pipeline of projects across residential, student accommodation and care sectors — offering long‑term career stability and variety.
  • Working within a company committed to people — emphasising support, professional development, and a collaborative culture.
  • The position offers a competitive salary and benefits, acknowledging the value of experienced professionals in delivering high‑quality developments.
