Job description

Our client is a well-established residential groundworks contractor, specialising in infrastructure civils, earthworks, and plot groundworks. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in Quantity Surveying within the groundworks industry to contribute to a reputable contractor known for delivering high-quality residential and infrastructure projects. Known for our strong client relationships, technical expertise and long-term stability, we're now looking to strengthen our commercial team.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple residential civil engineering projects across Sheffield and surrounding areas. You'll lead on all surveying activities - from initial pricing and procurement through to cost control, forecasting and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the commercial aspects of groundworks and residential infrastructure projects
  • Prepare bills of quantities, estimates and tender submissions
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation and contract administration
  • Monitor and report on project costs, forecasts and profitability
  • Undertake valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Provide commercial guidance to project teams and maintain strong client relationships
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards and contractual obligations
About You:
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within civil engineering or residential groundworks
  • Strong understanding of NEC/JCT contracts
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Confident communicator and team collaborator
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar
  • Full UK driving licence
