Job summary

Farrans Construction in Oxford is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support project leaders in delivering high standards of service and innovative practice. You will manage contract administration, risk, and negotiation to deliver profitability and cash projections, while informing line management as required.

You will work on subcontract lifecycles, produce monthly cost and progress reports, and ensure value for money through active cost control and effective communication with

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Previous NEC contract experience (NEC3 or NEC4 option C).
• Demonstrable negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise deadlines and pay attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and organisation ability with good problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
• Familiar with IT software, especially the Microsoft suite (Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Word).

Responsibilities

• Communicate and liaise with System sub-contractor.
• Advising on contractual issues.
• Ensure commercial compliance of current contracts, protecting the position of the company.
• Report to Commercial Manager about the subcontract status.
• Assist senior staff in pricing variations.
• Cost control.
• Support the Commercial and Contract Managers with monthly project cost reports and progress reports.
• Provide input to the team on managing other subcontract lifecycles, procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and work packages management.
• Measurement of quantities.
• Preparation of monthly financial statement of anticipated Final Account detailing status of variations (budget, submitted, agreed).
• Assist with monthly work in progress reports with project manager.
• Manage delegated resources to ensure value for money.
• Comply with Farrans policies on equality, sustainability, environment, health and safety, and data protection.

You will manage contract administration, risk management and negotiation effectively to deliver the agreed profitability and cash projections, informing line management and seeking guidance as and when required.

You will manage contract administration, risk management and negotiation effectively to deliver the agreed profitability and cash projections, informing line management and seeking guidance as and when required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and liaise with System sub-contractor

• Cost control
• Support the Commercial and Contract Managers with monthly project cost reports and progress reports
• Provide provision, when required to the rest of the team on managing other subcontract lifecycles, participating in procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and work packages management
• Measurement of quantities
• Preparation of monthly financial statement of anticipated Final Account detailing status of variations (budget, submitted, agreed), in conjunction with project management
• Assist with monthly work in progress reports in conjunction with project manager
• Managing delegated resources (e.g., budgets, equipment, and contracts) as appropriate, to ensure value for money
• Being fully aware of and actively complying with Farrans policies and procedures relevant to your own responsibilities and to corporate policies and procedures including equality, sustainability and the environment, health and safety and data protection
