Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on the Yorkshire Green Project within the Energy division. The role focuses on commercial governance, valuation preparation, cost reporting, and procurement management for major civil engineering work.

The successful candidate will bring NEC contracts expertise, proven experience on large projects, and registration with RICS/ICES or working toward chartership.

Qualifications

• Senior quantity surveyor with proven experience on large civil/construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and cost control processes.
• RICS/ICES membership or working towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site team follows group procedures and governance.
• Prepare valuations/payments with supporting documentation per contract.
• Oversee client cost reports and deliver contractually compliant documents.
• Manage subcontractor and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor accounts and final accounts processes.
• Lead contract administration, change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks/opportunities and value engineering.
• Apply cost allocation/coding for internal/external reporting.
• Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance
• Management of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
• Oversee Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
• Management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
• Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements
• Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a times served Quantity Surveyor looking to step up.
• Solid knowledge across NEC Contracts.
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
• Experience on Civil Engineering and/or Major Construction Projects.
