Senior Quantity Surveyor – Maidstone, Kent

Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Package

Hill McGlynn are proud to be representing a respected and growing main contractor with a strong track record delivering high-quality new build projects across Kent and the South East.

We are currently seeking a commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Maidstone office, playing a key role in managing the financial success of a variety of projects across sectors including education, commercial, healthcare, and residential.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you\'ll take full commercial responsibility for the delivery of one or more live projects, overseeing subcontractor procurement, cost control, valuations, and financial reporting from pre-construction through to final account.

You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure best value and commercial performance on projects typically ranging from £5m-£30m.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full cost management across multiple new build schemes
  • Subcontractor procurement, contract negotiation, and administration
  • Monthly valuations, cost reporting, forecasting and risk management
  • Managing variations and change control processes
  • Final account preparation and agreement
  • Mentoring junior members of the commercial team
  • Liaising with project teams, clients, consultants, and supply chain
Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role
  • Proven background with a Tier 1 or regional main contractor
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge (JCT experience essential)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally as needed
