Overview

Our client, a well-established and reputable main contractor based in Hatfield with a £50 million turnover, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. With a strong pipeline of work across the commercial, education, and industrial sectors, they are looking for a motivated and commercially astute individual to manage projects from tender through to final account.

The Role
  • Responsible for the full spectrum of QS duties on multiple projects ranging from £500k to £5m.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, valuations, and variations.
  • Conduct procurement of subcontractors.
  • Work closely with site teams and directors to ensure commercial success of projects.
  • Prepare interim and final accounts and manage cash flow forecasts.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working with a UK main contractor.
  • Proven track record delivering commercial, education, or residential schemes.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK building regulations and standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT).
  • Strong negotiation, financial management, and reporting skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with great communication and problem-solving skills.
