Job Overview

Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Rickmansworth or Hampton (hybrid working available)

Rate: £59k – 70k (negotiable), car allowance and excellent benefits package

Client: An integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector with over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres, supporting six long‑term water sector frameworks on its own and in joint ventures.

Role

You will report directly to the Managing QS and be responsible for the commercial management of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Quantity surveying duties in managing projects and work packages.
  • Liaise with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control cost.
  • Collaborate with the client to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Manage the main contract ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised as necessary.
  • Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
  • Assist in the management and performance of subcontractors.
  • Handle preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
  • Prepare project cost & value reports, budgets and forecasts.
  • Support management and development of junior commercial staff.
  • Maintain continuous professional development via networking, conferences and industry groups.
  • Maintain a positive, solution‑oriented approach, providing open and honest feedback.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Commercial experience, preferably with a contracting organisation.
  • Experience on infrastructure projects.
  • BSc or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent construction‑related subject.
  • Working towards or holding chartered membership of a recognised institution.
  • Experience with standard forms of contract such as NEC and IChemE.
  • Claim management.
