Job summary

GH Engage is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Commercial team in the Glasgow area. The role combines hybrid site presence (3 days on-site) with office-based work, focusing on managing commercial and contract activities and ensuring procurement governance.

You will oversee subcontractor management, cost analysis, and monthly reporting while coordinating with the estimating team to support project milestones.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying is desired.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a senior QS role.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems in a collaborative fashion.
• Team player with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Manage day to day commercial and contract activities.
• Create and monitor procurement schedules.
• Ensure supplier agreements and sub-contractors are managed per policy.
• Use the costing system for allocation and coding to meet requirements.
• Provide regular updates to ensure milestones are achieved.
• Handle monthly payment applications as agreed with the client.
• Update contract obligations for additional client requirements.
• Manage tender vs construction cost analysis.
• Oversee sub-contractor accounts and assist PMs in subcontracting decisions and payments.
• Hold official handover meetings with estimating team.
• Negotiate contracts, payment terms and milestones.
• Liaise with client and sub-contractors and attend site meetings as needed.
• Maintain regular contact with site staff/PM for project updates and variations.
• Mentor junior members of the commercial team.
• Notify management of any increased project value or issues.
• Produce monthly cost reports for Commercial Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day to day commercial and contract activities.
• Creation and monitoring of procurement schedule.
• Ensure supplier agreement and sub-contractors are managed in accordance with company policies.
• Use the agreed costing system for allocation and coding to meet all internal and external requirements.
• Providing regular updates/information to ensure contract milestones are achieved.
• Payment applications – monthly or as agreed with the client.
• Update contract obligations to meet additional client requirements.
• Manage Tender Vs Construction Cost analysis.
• Manage sub-contractor accounts, providing Project Managers assistance in selecting/appointing sub-contractors, drafting sub-contractor contracts, processing payments and controlling variations.
• Have official handover meeting with estimating team.
• Contract Negotiations, agreement of payment terms and milestones.
• Liaising with the client and sub-contractors (attending site meetings when required).
• Regular contact with site staff/PM for project updates and tracking project Variations.
• Providing support and mentorship to develop junior members of the commercial team.
• Responsible for notifying client/senior management of any increased project value or issues which may affect company performance.
• Responsible for production and presentation of monthly cost reports to Commercial Manager.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying desired
• Minimum 2-3 Years’ Experience in a senior QS position
• Proficient in Microsoft office features including excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve in a collaborative fashion.
