Overview

Due to continued project wins and the requirement to increase the our clients commercial capacity, We are seeking an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our clients team within a dynamic rail or civil engineering contracting environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in quantity surveying, underpinned by a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Our client needs a motivated self-starter with a passion for professional development and a desire to contribute positively to the continued growth and success of the commercial team within the business. This role offers excellent prospects for career progression and long-term development for the right individual.

You should be confident working independently with minimal supervision, capable of managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present monthly reports covering accounting, costing, contracts, and financial data to support project performance and management decisions.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on Bills of Quantities, specifications, and contractual obligations across existing and upcoming projects.
  • Engage directly with clients to communicate cost data, manage variations, and ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting.
  • Assist in the negotiation and agreement of change orders and variations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Support the development of follow-on and minor works business opportunities, including preparing quotations and costings.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts Manager on the preparation and submission of tender documents, pricing strategies, and commercial models.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and systems relating to cost control, contract administration, and commercial management.
