Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team, taking full responsibility for the financial and contractual performance of major marine and civil engineering projects.

This role is based at the Devon head office and will involve regular travel to sites nationwide. You’ll work closely with the Commercial Director and wider delivery teams to ensure accurate cost control, forecasting, and commercial governance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cost planning, forecasting, and value reporting across assigned projects.
  • Prepare tenders, bills of quantities, variations, and claims, and manage negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee cost / value reconciliations (CVRs), margin performance, and project cash flow.
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor performance, ensuring commercial compliance and risk management.
  • Provide commercial leadership and mentoring to junior quantity surveyors.
  • Maintain robust contract administration and ensure timely submission of valuations and final accounts.
  • Support the wider business with commercial strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Criteria
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, or marine environments.
  • Strong track record in cost management, CVRs, forecasting, and commercial negotiations.
  • Knowledge of UK construction contracts (NEC, JCT, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder, and negotiation skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
