Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team located in the Northwest London area.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of social housing projects, including planned maintenance, refurbishment, and new build developments. You will oversee cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting, ensuring value for money and compliance with housing sector standards. This is a leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial aspects of social housing contracts, from tender through to final account.
  • Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cashflows.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of valuations, variations, and claims.
  • Administer contracts (JCT, NEC, or other relevant forms), ensuring compliance with terms.
  • Provide accurate and timely commercial reports to senior management and clients.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favourable terms.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance evaluation.
  • Support compliance with housing regulations, health & safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors and Assistants.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, design, and client teams to achieve successful project delivery.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (RICS accreditation preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in social housing (maintenance, refurbishment, or new build).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant contracts (JCT, NEC, PPC, etc.).
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of financial and commercial awareness.
  • Strong IT skills, including cost management software and MS Office.
  • Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
