  • Salary: £50-70k per annum

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in sprinkler systems and mechanical projects to join our dynamic team. This role involves comprehensive management of project costs and contracts, ensuring financial efficiency and compliance with legal standards while maintaining high quality.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct thorough contract appraisals, negotiations, and secure agreements to minimise risks.
  • Implement and lead periodic contract review meetings.
  • Analyse contract programmes against actual progress, issuing timely delay notices as required.
  • Oversee contract and sub-contract management and administration, ensuring adherence to contract terms, local regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and report on contract expenditure in comparison to budgets and forecasts.
  • Proactively identify, value, and agree on variations and extensions of time.
  • Manage commercial aspects and control of sub-contract accounts, including payment preparation, final account work, and dispute resolution.
  • Certify payment applications from subcontractors and develop internal financial documents and reports.
  • Liaise with the finance department to support accurate cash flow forecasting.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Drive cost minimisation and value enhancement in projects without compromising on quality.
  • Manage change control processes effectively, including early warnings and compensation events.
  • Assist in resolving disputes and provide detailed analysis for quotations and tenders.
  • Prepare valuations for payment applications and actively participate in financial and progress meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender documents for large projects, including refurbishments and compliance works.
  • Conduct cost analysis and risk assessments to identify potential cost‑saving measures.
  • Mentor and support the development of graduate and trainee commercial staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a senior role, preferably within the construction or related sector, with specific experience in sprinkler systems and mechanical projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and procurement processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proficient in relevant software for financial forecasting and contract management.
