Location: West Sussex or Kent office with travel to site in Surrey

Salary: £80,000 to £90,000 per annum plus package

Working Pattern: Hybrid - two days in the office, two days on site, one day working from home

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading South East housebuilder for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a major residential development in Surrey. The successful candidate will manage all commercial aspects of the project, working closely with project managers, contractors and design teams. This hybrid role offers a combination of office, site and home-based work, providing variety and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the residential development from pre construction to completion
  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Measure and value variations and ensure accurate progress claims
  • Monitor and report on cost, risk and programme to senior management
  • Liaise with project managers, design teams and contractors to ensure delivery on budget
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a quantity surveyor on residential developments
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost management
  • Experience managing large scale residential or affordable housing projects is desirable
  • RICS qualification or working towards it preferred
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across office, site and external stakeholders
  • Commercially minded and proactive
