Job summary

Novus Property Solutions is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities on refurbishment and retrofit projects across the Midlands. You will manage a small team, prepare estimates, monitor cash flow, and liaise with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to ensure profitability and value.

This hybrid role offers working from office, site, and some home-based days, 37.5 hours weekly. A competitive salary and benefits package includes pension, holidays, and healthcare

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Understanding of Social Housing sector is advantageous.
• Strong cost management and commercial steering skills.

Job description

Based : Smethwick; hybrid working between the office, site and some home working. Working 08:30 – 17:00 Monday – Friday - 37.5 hours per week - Sites around the Midlands

Working on our Social Housing Passive Fire Protection and Retrofit works programs, such as fire doors and fire stopping, insulation, ventilation, solar panels, you will work both from home/office and on site, managing, supporting and developing the team collaboratively in an environment that is inclusive and fair for everyone.

Leading a small team of commercially focused colleagues to ensure we obtain and evaluate information to guarantee a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for designated Refurbishment Projects. Whilst liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/contracts.

An outline of your responsibility as a Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Managing the monthly CVR Process for your region
• Lead and manage the performance of a small team of colleagues
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.
• Ensure all invoices submitted accurately and for certified value to ensure payments are received on time.
• Support your team to value and authorise payments to sub-contractors within the region
• Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
• Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
• Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids, and tenders to demanding timescales.
• Support the team with monitoring the contract progress, assess, and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.
• Assist in the control of contract budgets.
• Assist in the development of the procurement programme.

About You

You will have experience of working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Construction industry, it’s a distinct advantage if you have an understanding of the Social Housing sector and working in a live environment, which will give you the knowledge to hit the ground running and contribute effectively to the team. Applicants will ideally have experience of managing a small commercial team and their workload while also managing your own projects. Applicants will have strong commercial acumen, excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills. You will be an expert with IT with proficient MS office skills. You also must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as travel is a must with this role.
