Job description

We are looking for a qualified, experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial department. This new position is available due to contract win; however, you will be supporting another wastewater contract. Your role will be to support commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk and cost for both Sapphire Utility Solutions and our customers. Accurately value works undertaken and, where necessary, provide records to substantiate cost, ensuring the change‑control process is managed effectively in both main and subcontract. Manage client relationships at contract level. You will report and work directly with the board.

Responsibilities
  • Contractual knowledge to communicate with relevant parties ensuring understanding of the terms of contract.
  • Work efficiently and calmly to meet tight deadlines or other stress factors as they arise.
  • Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements.
  • Use performance data to identify opportunities and implement commercial processes to realise contractual entitlements and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the operational team.
  • Ensure proper contractual administration of assigned contract, including value and cost control, and maintenance of records.
  • Accurately value works undertaken and provide records to substantiate cost to allow prompt issue of application for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales.
  • Support development of individuals within the commercial team.
  • Accept extra duties as situations arise.
  • Manage subcontract accounts.
Qualifications
  • HNC in Quantity Surveying would be advantageous.
  • Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or similar advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in utilities or civils industry desirable.
  • Experience in a QS role or Senior Commercial role.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel skills essential.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts.
  • Strong desire to maintain client relationships whilst not compromising contractual entitlement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
