Job description

About the Job You're Considering

Capgemini are recruiting for experienced Quality Engineers at a Senior level.

We have vacancies for Senior Quality Engineers to join our dynamic team building solutions for our public sector client. Working with us will mean delivering critical digital services from cradle to grave working on a variety of projects featuring high-performance cloud platforms using Java based languages and technologies, and on-premises traditional infrastructure.

As a member of our self-empowered, multi-disciplined teams, you’ll have the freedom to shape the way you work using the latest industry practices, tools and technologies, while collaborating in our mature Agile environment alongside specialists from other disciplines.

Hybrid working

Your working location will vary depending on your role, personal needs, and business requirements. This will typically include a mix of company offices, client sites, and remote work from home. If your location is Telford or Worthing (please note the Worthing office will relocate to Brighton & Hove in the second half of 2026) you will be expected to work from the office between 40% and 70% of the time. For all other locations you need to be prepared to come into the Telford or Worthing office once to twice a month (Lead engineers more frequently). As we align closely with customer requirements---which may change over time---you will need to remain flexible. Please note that fully remote working (100% from home) is not permitted.

Your role

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll be tasked with a wide range of responsibilities covering all aspects of software testing. Our Senior engineers are experts in checking and assessing all requirements, on system-to-system and UI based projects.

Hands-on skills and leading by example are expected in creating test scenarios / scripts and setting up test data in conjunction with external/3rd party systems and teams.

Senior engineers are familiar with effective test automation and can shape the test automation approach using established best practice. Senior engineers are capable of test automation using languages such as Java, Scala, .Net, or JavaScript and can advise on the usage of techniques such as TDD and BDD.

Strong communication skills are necessary to convey progress to stakeholders, work as part of a team, and influence the design and project planning sessions.

Senior engineers are expected to lead by example, fostering a culture of excellence. You will actively mentor junior engineers and support their wellbeing, professional growth, and development, including through effective performance management

Our Culture

We’re looking for people who are learning focused, challenge the status quo and are constantly looking to shape their working environment to make it an exciting, fun and interesting place to work.

Keeping things fresh is something we encourage in our working practices, but the culture of continuous improvement is equally as important in our technical approach to building and delivering modern digital services. Your knowledge and experience will be used to change the way we build solutions including utilising new tools and technologies to solve new problems or improve existing services.

Working on our services means you’ll be part of a team, but you’ll also be a part of communities of interest. This means you’ll always have people on hand to share and discuss ideas and get help when needed. The engineering organisation is engineering led, supporting each other through coaching and mentoring, so if you want to change something it’s within your power to do so.

Your Skills And Experience

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the QA process, knowledge in defining, implementing test designs and broad experience across test levels.

  • Hands-on experience using and maintaining automated test frameworks (e.g, Cucumber, JUnit)

  • Knowledge of stubbing / mocking frameworks such as Wiremock

  • Understanding of Non-Functional testing such as Performance, Security or Accessibility testing

  • Experience / Understanding of Git or other version control systems

  • Strong experience of iterative / incremental software delivery

  • Hands on experience of all levels of the test automation pyramid

  • Experienced in API testing and tools

  • Experienced in Functional or System Testing

  • Experience using project management tooling (e.g. JIRA)

  • Good knowledge of Agile methodologies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving & collaborative skills

  • Proactive, looks for areas of improvement
