Job summary

Ltek Recruitment Ltd Seek an experienced Senior Quality Engineer in Bristol to own the Quality function, drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with aerospace standards. You will lead the Quality department, partner with Senior Management, and act as the primary quality contact for customers.

The role reports to the Managing Director and offers a strategic leadership position within an SME aerospace environment, with influence on process improvements and supplier quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer in aerospace.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 / aerospace quality standards.
• Experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Engineering or Quality qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Quality department, setting direction and driving performance.
• Maintain and improve the QMS in line with AS9100/EN9100 standards.
• Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team and influence strategy.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace and customer-specific quality requirements.
• Oversee FAIRs, PPAP submissions, control plans, and quality documentation.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost and efficiency.
• Develop and report KPIs to measure quality performance.
• Mentor and develop the Quality team.
• Be the main point of contact for customers on quality matters.

Job description

Senior Quality Engineer

This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, where you will take full ownership of the Quality function and play a key role in driving continuous improvement, compliance, and operational excellence across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Quality Engineer

• Lead and manage the Quality department, setting direction and driving performance
• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with AS9100 / EN9100 standards
• Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to business strategy and decision-making
• Ensure compliance with aerospace and customer-specific quality requirements
• Oversee FAIRs, PPAP submissions, control plans, and quality documentation
• Drive root cause analysis using tools such as 8D and Ishikawa
• Monitor and improve supplier quality performance
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and efficiency
• Develop and report on KPIs to measure quality performance
• Manage, mentor, and develop the Quality team
• Act as the main point of contact for customers on all quality-related matters

About You

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100 / aerospace quality standards
• Experience in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Engineering or Quality qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent experience

Desirable:

• Auditor certification (AS9100 / ISO9001)
• Background in aerospace manufacturing (machining, assembly, composites, or electronics)
• Experience working within an SME environment
• Hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving
