Job description

Building the quality engineering foundations for the next generation of AI-driven software delivery.

This isn't a traditional QA role. You won't simply be executing test scripts, logging defects and signing off releases. You'll be taking ownership of quality from the initial requirements right through to production, shaping how software is tested, validated and delivered.

With AI and agentic engineering becoming an increasingly important part of software development, quality engineering is moving to the centre of the development lifecycle. You'll play a key role in ensuring that AI-generated code is properly tested, robust and safe to release.

What will you actually be doing?

You’ll own the test strategy for your team’s work, deciding what needs testing, where the risks sit and how quality is evidenced.

• Develop API, contract and integration tests, alongside end-to-end automation
• Work closely with developers and Product Owners to turn requirements and acceptance criteria into executable tests
• Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to generate tests, build test data and investigate failures
• Critically review AI-generated tests, identifying weak assertions, missing coverage and tests that simply pass rather than find faults
• Build automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Own release readiness, ensuring there is clear evidence that software is fit for production

What background are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with a strong software quality engineering background who enjoys getting hands‑on with automation and influencing how engineering teams approach quality.

You’ll ideally have at least 4 years’ experience in software quality engineering, with ownership of test strategy and automation within a commercial software environment.

You might have worked with:

• Automation: Playwright, API testing, contract testing, integration testing, end-to-end automation
• Languages: C#/.NET and/or TypeScript. Comfortable reading C# and SQL
• Cloud & CI/CD: Azure, Azure DevOps, automated pipelines and quality gates
• AI & Agentic Engineering: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding agents, with practical experience using them in your day‑to‑day testing work
• Quality Engineering: Risk-based testing, test strategy, exploratory testing, performance/load testing and release management
• Tools: k6, Artillery, JMeter, Azure Monitor or Application Insights

• You understand how to test AI-generated code and, importantly, where AI-generated tests can go wrong.
• You’ve built automation frameworks yourself rather than just working with existing suites.

• You’re comfortable challenging a release decision when the evidence doesn’t support it.
