Job description

Job Overview

An immediate start opportunity is available at our client's busy fruit and vegetable production site. Staffline is recruiting a Senior Quality Assurance professional to work in Chatteris. Own transport is required due to the location.

Working hours: Sunday to Saturday, 5 days per week, starting at 07:00am. Finish times vary, and you must be prepared to work until the job is completed (40-48 hours per week).

Pay

Rate of pay: £13.27 per hour up to 48 hours, with overtime paid at £16.59 per hour for all hours worked over 48. Bank Holiday pay is £13.77 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Oversee product quality from goods‑in through to final release, ensuring all checks, tests, labelling and traceability requirements are carried out accurately.
• Document and communicate failures promptly and maintain a strong focus on food safety, legality and authenticity in line with the Quality Management System.
• Supervise, support and train members of the Quality team, promoting a consistent and proactive approach to quality across the business.
• Perform and oversee label, quality and weight checks, assess shelf‑life samples, approve customer labels to specification, and ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
• Support the Product Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor, deputising in their absence, liaise with the Commercial team where required, and assist with the development of new packing processes and quality procedures.
• Some travel may be required; additional ad hoc duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role, ideally within the salad or fresh produce industry.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and guide the QA team in day‑to‑day operations.
• A proactive approach, creativity, good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks are essential.
• Problem‑solving ability, a risk‑aware mindset, and strong follow‑up skills.
• Competence in IT, including Word and Excel.
