Syntax Consultancy Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET to join our team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on AWS test environments, Cypress or Playwright, and integrating tests into CI/CD.

You'll develop JavaScript/TypeScript scripts, perform API and back-end data validation with SQL, and work in an Agile setting. Hybrid role: 2 days remote, 3 on-site, salary £70,000–£75,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• SDET experience in QA automation required
• AWS test environments experience essential
• JavaScript/TypeScript scripting skills
• Gherkin and BDD experience helpful
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Cypress or Playwright
• Strong REST API testing knowledge
• Agile experience in Scrum or Kanban

Responsibilities

• Work as Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET supporting AWS test environments.
• Build, maintain, and execute automated tests using Cypress or Playwright.
• Develop scripts in JavaScript and TypeScript; use Gherkin where appropriate.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Design and run API tests; validate RESTful API behaviour.
• Create and execute test cases, identify defects, verify fixes.
• Perform SQL-based validation and back-end testing.
• Track, prioritise, and report bugs with root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other teams in Agile environment.
• Promote quality standards across teams.
