A UK-based indie video game studio is seeking a Senior QA to define and lead their quality strategy. This fully remote role involves hands-on testing in Unity, ensuring stability and quality across games. Ideal candidates have over 5 years in games QA and have shipped multiple titles. The company offers innovative benefits including an enhanced holiday scheme and private healthcare.
We are a plucky independent fully-remote video game studio based in the UK, makers of Galacticare and War for the Overworld. The core team collaborates globally with a passion for building brighter universes. We aim to create genre-twisting 3D simulation and management games with a quirkily British sense of humour.
You will join a highly passionate, closely-knit team of developers working in simulation, RTS and management. We hire multi-talented individuals who operate autonomously, with every role hands-on and directly impacting our games.
In this Senior QA role, you set the studio's quality strategy, embed QA in planning, and lead testing from daily smoke checks through major milestones and demos. You work hands-on in Unity to design and run tests, verify fixes, track coverage and stability, and report clear, player-focused signals. You also own the build flow, defining release trains and gates, distributing builds to the team and playtesters, and continuously improving pipelines and tools so the studio ships stable, predictable releases.
You define how QA integrates with development and champion a quality-first mindset across the studio. You represent QA in planning, scope, and milestone discussions, collaborate closely with design, code, and art to deliver focused, player-centric feedback, and lead internal and external testing efforts from day-to-day smoke tests to major deliverable milestones and demos.
You own the QA pipeline end-to-end, from test design to execution and reporting, working directly in Unity to find issues and verify fixes. You create and maintain test plans and cases, execute them, track coverage, and assess build stability; you reproduce defects, verify fixes rapidly, and guard against regressions in-engine; you communicate risks clearly with concise reporting and stability trend analysis.
You partner with production to streamline build distribution and release management while continuously improving pipelines and tools. You define release trains, gates, and readiness criteria for internal and external drops; manage low-friction build distribution for the team and playtesters; and identify bottlenecks, driving new tools and automation with engineering support, using Confluence and Jira to keep everything visible and up to date.
If you want to rebuild QA from the ground up and make a studio-wide impact, we’d love to talk.
Please Note: This is a full-time, permanent, remote-working position, open to anyone within the UK & Europe.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in our industry.
