Job summary

Adzuna is seeking a Senior Python Developer to lead a fast-moving team as a contractor. You will architect backend services, steer AI integrations, and guide the transition to a Python-based platform, collaborating with product managers and data scientists.

We value strong Python fundamentals, hands-on leadership, and experience deploying ML/AI to production. Remote with UK business hours; often work asynchronously with a global team.

Qualifications

• Proven Python software development experience with leadership or lead developer roles.
• Strong Python fundamentals and object-oriented programming.
• Experience shipping ML/AI prototypes to production and using agentic AI coding.
• Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with AWS services and Git.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: act as tech lead, unify silos and mentor a small team.
• Architectural Stewardship: design scalable backend APIs and LLM pipelines.
• Data Strategy: build high-throughput data pipelines between databases and UIs.
• Infrastructure & Security: secure auth, sessions, and caching; optimize AWS for high availability.
• Strategic Execution: migrate legacy systems to the new Python stack; balance maintenance vs new development.
