About the Company

Join a hyper-growth, VC-backed SaaS company that's building a world-class engineering function in Northern Ireland. With a decade of proven success and a strong track record of innovation, the business has evolved into a global-scale platform delivering intelligent, data-driven solutions with deep systems integration and automation capabilities at its core.

This is a high-autonomy, remote-first role in a team that values engineering excellence, technical ownership, and collaboration. You'll be one of the first senior hires in their new UK engineering base, helping design and deliver integration frameworks and backend systems that power enterprise-scale connectivity across multiple products and platforms.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Python/Django Engineer with a strong background in systems integration to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems. You'll take ownership of integration-focused projects, architect clean and reusable APIs, and work with cloud-based technologies to connect complex systems in a seamless, maintainable way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable backend systems using Python and Django.
  • Build robust integrations and APIs to connect internal and third-party platforms.
  • Lead architectural discussions around system design, scalability, and data flow.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, DevOps, and QA to deliver high-quality releases.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and promote best practices for observability and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, designing long-term solutions.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, following TDD principles.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and integration frameworks.
Essential Criteria
  • 5+ years developing backend or web applications in production environments.
  • Strong Python and Django experience.
  • Proven background in systems integration, API design, or enterprise connectivity.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, SSO), and data exchange standards.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience working in distributed teams with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Bonus Points For
  • Experience with Postgres or CentOS.
  • Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Experience integrating with SaaS or third-party APIs at scale.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across distributed systems.
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
Why Join?
  • Be one of the first key hires in a newly established Northern Ireland engineering function.
  • Shape the architecture and integration strategy of a global platform.
  • Work alongside world-class engineers across the UK, US, and Europe.
  • Fully remote, flexible, and high-trust culture.
  • Clear opportunities to progress into technical leadership or architecture-focused roles.
