Job summary

Synechron in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Python Developer / Data Modelling Specialist to design scalable data governance and metadata solutions in a high-impact tech environment.

You will apply strong Python expertise with Pydantic, FastAPI and Collibra, building robust models, data lineage, and governance workflows while collaborating with risk, compliance, architecture, and business teams to deliver regulatory-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional Python development experience.
• Experience designing data models, schemas, validation frameworks and API-ready data structures.
• Practical experience with Collibra or similar data governance platforms.
• Knowledge of data taxonomies, data lineage, data quality and governance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise asset models aligned with governance, metadata, regulatory and risk requirements.

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer / Data Modelling Specialist to design and deliver scalable data governance and metadata solutions in a high-impact technology environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python, Pydantic, FastAPI, Collibra, data modelling, metadata management, and enterprise data governance. You will work with data, technology, risk, compliance, architecture, and business teams to develop robust, reusable, and regulatory-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain enterprise asset models aligned with data governance, metadata, regulatory, and technology risk requirements.
• Configure Collibra asset types, attributes, relations, domains, communities, workflows, roles, and responsibilities.
• Develop Python solutions using Pydantic for schema definition, validation, serialization, and configuration-driven modelling.
• Build reusable libraries and automation patterns for data ingestion, governance workflows, data quality, lineage, integrations, and reporting.
• Work with REST APIs, JSON, YAML, SQL, and structured and unstructured data.
• Design solutions for large-scale financial, risk, and regulatory data with a focus on performance, integrity, traceability, and control.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor responsibly to improve productivity and code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into scalable data solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 6+ years of professional experience in Python development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Pydantic, FastAPI, REST APIs, JSON, YAML, and SQL.
• Experience designing data models, schemas, validation frameworks, and API-ready data structures.
• Practical experience with Collibra or similar data governance and metadata management platforms.
• Knowledge of data taxonomies, business glossaries, data lineage, data quality, critical data elements, and governance workflows.
• Experience in financial services, banking, risk, compliance, regulatory reporting, cyber, fraud, or technology risk.
• Understanding of Git, code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with Collibra APIs, workflows, import/export tools, Edge, or Connect integrations.
• Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, GCP, Informatica, or other enterprise data platforms.
• Knowledge of data mesh, data products, domain-driven design, and enterprise data marketplaces.
• Understanding of BCBS 239, GDPR, CCPA, DORA, MiFID, Basel, Solvency II, or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Data governance, data management, cloud, or related professional certifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
