Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Associate Director Protection & Control Engineer to drive FEED and detailed design for high-voltage protection and control systems across transmission and renewable energy projects in the UK & Europe. You will lead multi-discipline teams, coordinate interfaces, and ensure design quality and timely delivery.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, a strong background in P&C FEED for 132kV–400kV, and expertise with National Grid and SSE processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Chartered Engineer status.
• Extensive experience in Protection & Control FEED and detailed design for high-voltage installations.
• Familiarity with National Grid and SSE design processes and standards; full project lifecycle experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for Protection & Control systems across transmission and renewable energy projects.
• Oversee interface design, protection schemes, control philosophies, and settings coordination.
• Ensure QA and timely delivery of design packages, bids, and client deliverables.
• Manage and grow the P&C engineering team, including recruitment and capability development.
• Monitor team billability, utilisation, and performance metrics.
• Support bids and proposals, contributing to technical strategy and resource planning.
• Undertake site visits and non-intrusive surveys as required for design or site support.
• Chair design reviews, hazard reviews, and technical assurance meetings.
• Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring CDM and safety standards compliance.
• Maintain and grow client relationships; support business development.
