Overview
Turner & Townsend is seeking Senior Project Managers to join the Data Centre team in London. You will be responsible for leading and supporting large-scale, ground-up data centre construction projects with prominent technology clients across Europe, overseeing all aspects from inception through commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Advising at a strategic level at the project conception stage, including guidance on approaches to achieve the client’s objectives
- Leading the establishment of overall project success criteria (time, cost, technical and performance parameters)
- Planning for and managing quality, safety, health and environment issues
- Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be used throughout the project
- Project planning and ensuring the production of the detailed project plan
- Advising on procurement of resources
- Leading and facilitating the cross-functional project team
- Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including KPIs to improve project performance
- Managing the change control process
- Monitoring and advising on project finances
- Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communications
- Ensuring the production of formal project progress and other reports
- Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
- Other responsibilities, including:
- Staff management (where appropriate)
- Knowledge management — inputting key information and learning from each project into the internal database
- Financial management — ensuring prompt client invoicing and monitoring project financial status
- Process improvement — identifying and acting on ways to improve internal systems and processes
Qualifications
- Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 5–10 years project management experience, preferably in digital/data centres
- Professionally qualified in construction, project management, engineering or architecture
- Chartered status or on the path to achieving it
- Thorough understanding of the total project life cycle from conception to post-project review
- Excellent knowledge and experience of main project management concepts, tools and techniques
- Design, management or construction experience in general construction environments (residential, office, fit-outs, health & education)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
