Job description

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an established Senior Project Manager to join the team in Cardiff on a hybrid basis! As a Senior Project Manager, you will support the delivery of complex building projects and programmes for major clients in the Property, Industry & Technology sectors. You will bring strong project management capability across the full project lifecycle, from early definition and approvals through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, helping clients achieve successful outcomes.

This role will suit someone with a background in delivery roles on major building projects, programmes or frameworks and may be newly (or close to) chartered by a relevant Institute or Association. You will combine strong delivery discipline with commercial awareness, clear communication and a collaborative approach. Experience of design management, construction procurement, contract administration and working closely with clients and stakeholders would be an advantage.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We are seeking an individual with experience in delivery management roles on medium to large, complex or high-risk building projects, programmes or frameworks. Someone who is familiar with working across different stages in the project lifecycle, from definition and approvals through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • BSc in related discipline and chartered or working towards chartership.
  • A background in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and integrating cost, schedule, procurement, health and safety, reporting, quality and planning. This includes supporting the development of project briefs, delivery strategies, and business case development, governance and gateway approvals.
  • Contract administration (NEC4 Project Manager / JCT Employer’s Agent) and contractor coordination using established processes and standard forms of contract.
  • Comfortable building strong client and stakeholder relationships within complex organisational environments. Including leading project meetings and managing internal and external communications with confidence.
  • Managing project schedules, risks and opportunities, and reporting clearly to clients, stakeholders and project boards.
