Job summary

People Group Limited is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a client-side rail project focusing on Buildings & Civils in Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire. The role is hybrid, with head office requirements and site visits, on a full-time basis.

You will lead two rail projects from initiation to close-out, applying APM or PRINCE2. Responsibilities include defining scope, managing teams and contractors, governance forums, progress reporting, and ensuring value-for-money and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree or similar in Project Management, Construction Management or Civil Engineering (preferred).
• Demonstrable experience on the client side, either for an end client or a PM consultancy.
• Proficient with web-based contract tools (e.g., Cemar).
• Strong IT skills including MS Excel.
• Thorough understanding of NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initiation to close-out, delivering safely, on time, within budget and to quality.
• Define scope, milestones and team roles; build and run the project plan.
• Manage internal teams and external contractors.
• Set up governance, including working groups and steering groups.
• Report progress, risk and spend to stakeholders against forecast.
• Ensure value-for-money and regulatory compliance; conduct lessons-learnt reviews.

Senior Project Manager - client side - Rail sector (Buildings & Civils)

Contract duration up to 12 months

We are looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to a client side position. You will be working on two rail projects, one of which is in construction stage, the other is in design stage.

This is a full time assignment, will be hybrid although there will be requirements for head office and site visits as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initiation to close-out, delivering them safely, on time, within budget and to quality using APM or PRINCE2 methodologies.
• Define scope, milestones and team roles, build and run the project plan
• Manage internal teams and external contractors
• Set up governance, including technical working groups and executive steering groups
• Report regularly to stakeholders on progress, risk and spend against forecast
• Make sure projects deliver value for money, support the client's strategic objectives and keep the client compliant with changing regulation
• Run lessons-learnt reviews at completion

Required Skills

• Degree or similar in Project Management, Construction Management or Civil Engineering (preferred)
• Demonstrable experience in working on the client side, either for an end client or a Project Management Consultancy
• Full working knowledge and understanding in using web-based contract management tools (eg Cemar)
• Strong IT skills, including a good understanding of Microsoft Excel
• Thorough understanding of NEC suite of contracts
