Job summary

United Infrastructure, formerly United Living, seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead a key Gas Transmission Asset Upgrade, overseeing client relationships, project governance and delivery on a two-stage Design & Build.

You will be based between Warrington and Woking during design, with some home working, and will be on site full-time during construction, driving schedules, risk management and subcontractor performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years relevant experience in construction/energy/engineering, with Design & Build exposure.
• Excellent communication and written skills for non-technical audiences.
• Awareness of CDM 2015 and regulations relevant to Designer and Principal Contractor.

Responsibilities

• Take actions to ensure work meets project requirements and timescales, managing contractual obligations.
• Manage design partner to meet deliverables in line with the project programme.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including risk registers, schedules, budgets and governance approvals.
• Provide accurate reports and presentations on project progress and risks to stakeholders.
• Develop strong client, designer and stakeholder relationships and attend meetings.

United Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join us and play a key role managing our clients in key Gas Transmission Asset Upgrades. The role will involve working in a dynamic and fast paced organisation and will afford the candidate the opportunity to work on strategic projects and stakeholder management, developing further within the role of project management.

Project Overview

The project is a 2 stage Design & Build project involving the installation of a new 15 MW gas turbine driven Compressor on an existing client site on the boundary of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.

You will initially be based between our offices in Warrington and our design partner offices in Woking with some flexibility for working from home during the design phase. During construction the role would be expected to be based full time on site.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Take all necessary actions to ensure that work is carried out within the project requirements and timescales. Managing the Company’s obligations and rights under the terms of the contract.
• Manage the design partner to ensure they meet all deliverable timescales in accordance with the project programme.
• Preparing and maintaining project documentation, including Risk Register, Issue Register, Daily Log, Project schedules, Project Budgets and Governance approvals;
• Provide up to date and accurate reports and presentations on the Project progress and highlight any potential risk to the relevant parties.
• Responsible for developing and establishing excellent working relationships through effective communication with the Client, designers and Stakeholders. Liaising with Client to build trust and enhance understanding. Attendance at meetings and attendance at Client events.
• Support / help facilitate project meetings and support on accurate recording of meetings.
• In conjunction with the project manager and Quantity Surveyor, the preparation of accurate CVR’s, the achievement and improvement of the project target profitability, the identification of project risks and opportunities and advise on forecast monthly turnover.
• Promote high standards of health and safety and environmental management by attending Health & Safety Meetings, developing Health and Safety Plans, ensuring compliance with Company procedures, carrying out SHEQ and quality audits and setting a good example.
• In conjunction with the other internal teams assess, select and appoint the sub-contractors based on their financial and quality of work performance. Undertake regular reviews to ensure work is being carried out to a high and safe standard. Agree scopes of each sub-contract package.
• Travel within the UK to various locations shall be required regularly.

Qualifications

• You will have 10+ years relevant experience preferably with a construction / energy / engineering background. Experience of Design & Build projects is essential.
• Technical knowledge of Gas process systems would be advantageous.
• Awareness of key aspects of commercial management, including scope, change and forecasting management.
• Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations the Designer and principal Contractor’s role.
• Knowledge of the industry, environment and context, experience working within a similar regulated utility environment; experience delivering gas projects is desirable.
• Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience;
• Full, clean drivers licence.
