Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for Senior Project Manager; you will lead the execution of medium‑size to large and moderately complex projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments. You will be involved in coaching and developing other members of the project management team and assisting in the preparation of tenders and bids.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead the project team, establish the project execution approach and oversee project hand‑over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
  • Proactively promote an inclusive environment in the team and in all interactions with stakeholders and the business.
  • Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and company policies.
  • Effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization.
  • Monitor and control project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow.
  • Identify, qualify, quantify and manage project risks, and ensure that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  • Capture, analyse and share lessons learned throughout the project.
  • Ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed, and drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close‑out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
  • Act as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Provide support in the preparation of proposals and bids to meet customer needs.
  • Identify own training needs, undertake self‑directed and formal training programmes as directed by Management.
  • Work towards achieving PMP status and developing into a more senior role.
  • Ensure projects follow and comply with company health, safety and environmental policies such as “Don’t look the other way”, Lean 6 Sigma and Power Grids hazard reporting.
Ideal Background
  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable equivalent qualification and/or experience in lieu.
  • Demonstrate accountability for budget and planning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance leadership and subject matter expertise.
  • Proven knowledge of project‑management methodologies such as PMBOK and standards set through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PRINCE2 (or equivalents).
  • Well‑developed competence in leadership roles relevant to all sizes of implementation projects.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate in a way appropriate to the audience.
  • Working towards professional membership of an appropriate body e.g. PMI, APM, IET.
