Job Description

Our Central South team is seeking experienced Project Managers to broaden industry experience and progress into a senior position. You will work on a range of industry‑leading infrastructure projects, supporting roles in transportation, utilities and highways for our client base.

Main Purpose of Role
  • Lead Project Management commissions, taking responsibility for end‑to‑end service delivery, often with large or complex projects.
  • Act as the key day‑to‑day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered to time, cost and quality targets.
Scope

Senior Project Managers handle commissions of varying sizes, typically ranging from £10m to £25m. Advisory projects such as urban regeneration funding may involve larger overall budgets.

Key Accountabilities
  • Advising at a strategic level at project inception, including methods to achieve client objectives.
  • Defining and maintaining project requirements, success criteria, and governance processes.
  • Preparing schedules and master project plans, and managing development against approved plans.
  • Developing resource plans and procuring resources, leading and facilitating the cross‑functional team.
  • Applying performance management techniques, including KPIs, and managing change control.
  • Agreeing budgets, controlling forecast and actual costs, and monitoring financial status.
  • Handling project information flow, risk identification, mitigation, and project progress reporting.
  • Interfacing with the client, consultants and stakeholders at all stages.
  • Advising on Health & Safety and Environmental issues and risks, and managing ongoing quality, safety, health and environmental issues.
Qualifications
  • Projects managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently, on time and to budget.
  • Project delivery meets client objectives and conditions of appointment.
  • The project team is led effectively, building strong relationships with clients and team members.
  • General line management responsibilities are effectively discharged where appropriate.
  • Business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross‑selling, are identified and acted upon.
  • Internal financial status of all projects is effectively monitored.
  • Key information and data is effectively cascaded and retained.
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience on large scheme projects (£100m plus).
  • Preferred if chartered/qualified with ICE, APM, RICS, etc.
