5-Month Contract with a Local Authority

Summary

  • The role involves project management of a significant portion of the Housing Capital Programme, valued at approximately £10 million annually. The position requires overseeing the internal team, contracts, technical consultants, and contractors to ensure value for money, qualitative outcomes, and adherence to spending targets.
Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts to ensure value for money, timely execution, and high standards.
  • Forecast spending and work profiles to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with the programme manager to lead, motivate, and manage a team, including surveyors, quantity surveyors, Clerks of Work, and Contract Administrators.
  • Ensure contract governance arrangements are followed, with effective monitoring and management of contractors.
  • Provide contractors with necessary property and asset information, including condition, FRA, repair data, and asbestos survey information.
  • Maintain effective budgetary control, addressing any budget issues immediately with the Head of Property Services, Capital Programme Manager, and Strategic Client Manager.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge and at least 5 years of experience in project management of large capital programmes or similar areas, with a proven track record of successful delivery.
  • Comprehensive understanding of asset management and investment appraisal with long-term planning.
