Ethos Engineering in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical services design for hyperscale data centre projects spanning the EMEA region. You will mentor junior engineers, define design standards, and deliver concept through construction with a focus on schedule, budget, and quality.

You will work with Autocad, Dialux, Amtech and REVIT, liaising with clients, architects and project managers to develop robust electrical building services solutions.

Qualifications

10+ years as a Senior Engineer with electrical building services design in data centre projects.
In-depth knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques.
Strong understanding of Electrical Building Services standards (ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN).
Proficient with Autocad, Dialux, Amtech and REVIT is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Lead the Electrical Services design for a range of data centre projects from concept through construction.
Produce detailed schematics and tender packages; monitor installation and quality on site.
Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical direction to support teams.
Develop and implement electrical design standards within the organisation.
Prepare budgets and client reports; attend site visits and lead project scopes.
Collaborate with clients, architects and project managers to ensure programme and budget alignment.
Utilise tools like Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech and REVIT in delivery.

About The Job We are seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join our Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region. As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will work within the data centre sector, leading electrical design packages from concept through to construction. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and design teams, ensuring delivery aligns with programme, budget and quality expectations. You will provide technical direction to support engineers and BIM technicians, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure designs are delivered in line with construction timelines while maintaining high technical and quality standards.

Lead the Electrical Services design for a range of projects.
Design and specification of electrical services for various types of buildings and sectors.
Produce detailed schematics.
Develop the electrical design standards within the organisation.
Mentor junior engineering staff.
Provide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion.
Tender report/analysis/recommendations.
Develop project scope with the design team/client.
Confidently use Microsoft Office, Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and REVIT.
Produce budgets and reports for clients.
Attend site visits.
Take lead on projects with minimal input from the management team.

About You

Honours Degree – Chartered an advantage but not essential
10+ years as a Senior Engineer
Must have electrical building services design experience within Data Centre engineering projects
In-depth knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques
Deep knowledge of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards
Working knowledge of Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and REVIT an advantage
Confident leading projects from the concept stage to completion
Communicative and able to liaise with clients, architects, and project managers
Manage the specification and design of Electrical Building Services systems for a range of projects
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
