A leading rail delivery organization is seeking a Senior Project Engineer specialized in Signalling for ongoing projects. Senior Project Engineer (CEM/DPE) - Signalling – Rail Infrastructure Projects
Location: York
Contract Type: Contract 6 months ongoing

We’re working with a leading rail delivery organisation on the lookout for a Senior Project Engineer (Signalling) to support a portfolio of renewals and re-signalling projects. This role is focused on schemes progressing through ES3 (Single Option Identified and Endorsed) and ES4 (Design Standards Approved and Approval in Principle) stages.

Responsibilities
  • Technical lead across multiple signalling-focused programmes, ensuring engineering assurance, design coordination, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Proactive risk management, compliance, and delivery excellence across the project lifecycle.
  • Manage multidisciplinary interfaces and ensure compliance with Network Rail standards and engineering assurance processes.
Key Requirements
  • Prior experience as a DPE or CEM is essential to obtain Authority to Work
  • Strong working knowledge of Network Rail standards and engineering assurance processes
  • Proven background in signalling design, integration, and technical leadership
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces and ensure compliance across the project lifecycle
Ideal Candidate
  • Degree-qualified or chartered engineer (or equivalent experience)
  • Deep understanding of rail signalling systems and standards
  • Comfortable working in regulated, fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
