Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, part of the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, seeks a qualified Pharmacy Technician to support aseptic clinical trial dispensing at the Aintree site. You will design trial documents, maintain drug accountability, and assist in trial setup and management within the Aseptics Team.

The role involves working one day per week with the Clinical Trials team, and requires GPhC registration and aseptics experience.

Qualifications

• Must be a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician with aseptics experience.
• Experience handling aseptic dispensing in a clinical trial or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Dispense aseptic clinical trial prescriptions.
• Write trial procedures and associated documentation.
• Produce aseptic worksheets and labels for trial products.
• Manage receipt and storage of investigational medicinal products.
• Support cross-site activities as required.
• Provide weekend and late rota coverage if needed.

Job description

Join our Pharmacy Team working on Clinical Trials in the Aseptics .

The team provide pharmacy support for the expanding Research and Development work of the trust, with a large portfolio of studies across many clinical specialities including working with the NIHR Royal Liverpool Clinical Research Facility in the conduct of first in human studies.

We work with external trial sponsors such as pharmaceutical companies, universities and local research units to ensure the correct and safe management of clinical trial medication.

You will be mainly based in the aseptic unit at the Aintree site and will contribute to production and distribution of sterile parental products for named patients for use in both standard of care and research settings.

You will be involved in the set up and management of upcoming studies that involve aseptically dispensed investigational medicinal products. You will design and produce worksheets, labels and other trial specific documents for use in aseptic dispensing.

You will assist in the maintenance of trial drugs, recording drug accountability and temperature monitoring of any areas storing clinical trial medication.

You will meet with external trial representatives during their monitoring visits to discuss the conduct of the trials at site.

Full training will be given.

You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC with experience in aseptics.

You will be based at the Aintree University Hospitals site with the Aseptics Team. You will work one day a week with the Clinical Trials team, supporting trial set up and management.
