Job summary

Zilch is seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to own features from sketch through implementation. You will guide the design process, collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and other Designers, and help drive high-quality user experiences that align with our vision and goals.

You will lead the full design lifecycle, mentor peers, and help maintain a scalable design system, while conducting user research to inform decisions and measure impact.

Qualifications

• Experience working in cross-functional teams on consumer-facing products.
• Strong visual design and UI execution with attention to detail.
• Ability to reason strategically about product and design decisions.
• Experience with design systems and collaboration with researchers, content and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the full design process from research, conception, testing, journey specs and developer collaboration to UX measurement of the launched product.
• Coach and mentor fellow designers, leading critique sessions to raise overall design quality.
• Ensure consistency across design work and raise the bar for output quality.
• Design customer journeys, create prototypes, run user tests and measure product launch success.
• Collaborate to maintain a scalable design system aligned with product and business goals.
• Carry out qualitative and quantitative user research to understand the user experience.

About the role.

As a Senior Product Designer at Zilch, you will be accountable for every feature you design - from the very first sketch through to implementation, you'll guide all stages of the design process and ensure they are of the highest quality. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, and other Designers, to deliver exceptional user experiences that align with our vision and goals. You’ll not only do world class design work, but also help the rest of the team do great design work too.

Day-to-day responsibilities.

Take responsibility for the full design process from collaborative research, conception, testing, full journey specs and developer collaboration, through to UX measurement of the launched product.

Coach and mentor your fellow designers, leading critique sessions to help develop a consistently strong holistic experience.

Nurture consistency across different pieces of design work and strengthen the bar we set for the quality of our collective output.

Design customer journeys, create prototypes, user test and measure the success of potential product launches.

Help define and deliver products that are enjoyable to use with a high level of craft and attention to detail.

Work collaboratively to manage and improve our scalable design system that meets product and business goals.

Carry out user research through a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to understand the user experience.

Identify key success metrics of the products you’re on and measure their success from a customer and business perspective.

You’ll work closely with our Head of Product Design and Product Managers to align on goals, priorities, direction, and feedback.

Document pattern libraries and style guides, updating as we evolve.

Review the performance of the release, identify learnings, and suggest ways to shape the future product.

What we’re looking for...

Demonstrated experience working in a cross functional team, designing consumer facing products.

You enjoy thinking through complex product challenges and care about solving the right problem.

You have a well-trained eye for exceptional visual design/UI execution. You care about getting things right - one pixel off is a big deal.

Think strategically about product and design at every level, communicating decisions with clarity and confidence and producing work built to last

Are well versed at working with disciplines in your work to achieve the best outcome, such as user research, content, and engineering.

Are a fantastic storyteller, communicating your thinking and design decisions in a way that brings stakeholders along on the journey with you

Experience using and helping to maintain a design system.

Proven experience advocating for users and applying learnings from research into your design.

Ability to analyse product experiments.

Be an advocate for design, with an understanding and ability to articulate how it helps reach business goals.

You are someone that likes to experiment with new ways of working and AI tools to optimise your design process.
