Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer for a Kidderminster-based manufacturer. You will lead the design and development of innovative products, support manufacturing operations and drive continuous product improvement, taking projects from concept through to production.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years in product/mechanical/design engineering.
• Strong SolidWorks experience is essential.
• Proven experience designing sheet metal products in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience producing detailed production drawings and engineering documentation.
• Good understanding of fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing processes and DFMA principles.
• Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation using SolidWorks.
• Improve and optimise existing products to enhance quality, performance and cost-efficiency.
• Develop manufacturing programmes and support production teams with technical expertise.
• Work closely with internal departments including Production, Estimating and Surveying.
• Contribute to R&D activities and identify opportunities for future product development.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Are you an experienced Product Design Engineer with a strong background in SolidWorks and sheet metal design?

An established engineering manufacturer is looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer to lead the design and development of innovative products, support manufacturing operations and drive continuous product improvement. This role would suit someone who enjoys taking projects from concept through to production and wants to play a key role in a growing business.

The Role

• Design and develop new products from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation using SolidWorks.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 4-5 years' experience within a Product Design, Mechanical Design or Design Engineering role.

• Proven experience designing sheet metal products within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience producing detailed production drawings and engineering documentation.
• Good understanding of fabrication, sheet metal manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture principles.
• Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

• Experience with SigmaNest or other CAD/CAM software.
• CNC programming experience.
• Knowledge of BSEN standards and CE marking requirements.
• Exposure to new product development and R&D projects.
