Job Advertisement: Senior Procurement Officer

Location: Lewes - Surrey and Sussex Police

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £43,795 - £47,712 per annum

Hybrid Working - 1 day a week in the office

Are you ready to take your procurement career to the next level? Our client, a prominent organisation in the public services sector, is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Procurement Officer to join their dynamic team in Lewes.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the procurement of goods, works, and services to meet the operational needs of the authorities.
• Providing first-line supervision and support to your team, fostering their development through coaching and training.
• Creating and maintaining effective working procedures within the Procurement Section, ensuring efficiency in day-to-day operations.
• Preparing and managing contract documentation for high-value, complex portfolios of goods and services, ensuring all stakeholder needs are met.
• Leading the evaluation process for tenders, ensuring compliance with Contract Standing Orders and Procurement Legislation.
• Negotiating contracts to secure the most favourable terms, demonstrating a commitment to delivering Best Value.
• Preparing detailed recommendations for contract awards and managing ongoing supplier relationships to ensure service delivery aligns with established performance terms.

What We're Looking For

• Full CIPS membership or be actively working towards it.
• A recognised graduate degree or equivalent commercial experience.
• Must be able to pass Police Vetting therefore continuously have lived within the UK for at least 5 years
• Proven experience in high-risk, high-value procurement agreements and a solid understanding of Procurement Law.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• The ability to influence stakeholders at all levels with strong communication skills.
• Line management experience or the potential to develop these skills.
• A willingness to travel within Sussex and Surrey.
