Job Title

Senior Procurement Engineer

Location

Warton – hybrid and flexible working arrangements available.

Salary

£47,683+ (DOE)

What you'll be doing
  • Work in a cross‑functional team, interacting with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Commercial and Finance colleagues; you will support the supplier coordination activities across a highly detailed portfolio.
  • Support all strategic supplier activity, negotiating pricing and contracting terms and conditions while driving performance across the contracts.
  • Coordinate a key development contract, supporting and influencing strategies via continuous improvement activities and working closely with Engineering teams to deliver an affordable, innovative and sustainable solution.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and be the primary interface for commercial and contractual issues, manage supplier risk and drive supply‑chain resilience.
  • Monitor and communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery; conduct regular supplier performance reviews and support Senior Business Reviews with suppliers.
  • Regular travel to suppliers (predominantly UK based) as and when required.
Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Considerable and effective communication skills, ability to foster close &trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with examples of identifying new ideas that drive improvement, problem solving and working collaboratively with others to identify a solution ideally within a procurement, or similar (e.g. commercial / project management) environment.
  • Negotiation skills – experience of price and contractual terms and conditions negotiations; experience of maintaining strategic supplier relationships and highly detailed development contracts.
  • Detailed understanding and experience of supplier risk and opportunity coordination.
  • Ability to compile data, interpret and propose recommendations through reports and presentations.

Desirable:

  • You will have, or be working towards MCIPS or have a similar professional qualification or hold a degree in a STEM or a business related subject (e.g. economics, business, finance).

Air Procurement Sensors Team

The DASS and Radar team, part of the Sensors Value organisation, manages strategic suppliers to deliver high‑value, cost‑effective solutions for advanced defence systems. The team focuses on supplier performance, risk management, and cost reduction, while supporting life‑cycle management and procurement governance.
