Senior and Graduate Process Engineer - Automotive/PCBs

Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 DOE + Benefits

Location: Birmingham

Are you a driven Process Engineer with experience in mechanical systems and automation? Do you want to play a key role in optimising processes for the fast-growing electric vehicle sector?

We are a dynamic and expanding manufacturing company, recently transitioned from private limited to public limited, offering excellent opportunities for growth, progression, and international exposure.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, configure, and optimise industrial processes from concept through to start-up and certification
  • Assess production processes, conduct measurements, and interpret data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Design, run, test, and upgrade mechanical and automated systems, including chemical and batch operations
  • Lead process development and optimisation for EV specialty components
  • Perform process simulations and feasibility assessments
  • Support capital equipment introduction, commissioning, and handover to production
  • Produce clear documentation and operating instructions
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to drive quality and efficiency improvements
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by reducing downtime, performance issues, and quality losses
  • Implement and maintain 5S methodology across production areas
Experience & Skills Required
  • Strong background in mechanical systems, automation, and continuous improvement
  • Automotive sector experience is essential; EV industry knowledge is advantageous
  • Printed circuit manufacturing and PCB exposure are highly desirable
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green certification
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret measurement/process data
  • Exposure to chemical handling and batch production beneficial
