Job summary

Capital One UK is seeking an experienced UK lawyer to join the privacy legal team as Senior Counsel - Privacy and Data Protection (Senior Manager). Based in London, you will support global privacy strategy across the UK and Europe, handling complex issues and guiding risk-based decisions in a dynamic financial technology environment.

You will work with a growing team, advise on data protection rules, and influence partners to implement robust privacy controls.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, and principles in the UK and internationally, including DUAA and GDPR.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain nuanced issues to diverse audiences and senior leadership.
Experience building practical privacy compliance solutions at large multinational companies.
Demonstrated strategic thinking and pragmatic problem-solving in risk calibration.

Responsibilities

Identify privacy issues in a highly regulated environment and provide expert legal advice on data protection.
Communicate privacy requirements and risks to legal, business, and risk partners.
Develop customer-focused privacy controls and disclosures to support business goals.
Draft policies, procedures, and internal documentation to enhance privacy operations.
Collaborate with outside counsel and monitor regulatory developments and trends.
Track and advise on new privacy laws and legislation.
