Job summary

Blue Diamond Recruitment is seeking a Senior or Principal Urban Designer to join an expanding Urban Design function in the UK. You will work with land promoters, house builders and developers, contributing to masterplanning, design codes and placemaking across residential and strategic land projects.

The role offers hybrid working with a competitive salary and benefits package, reporting to the Head of Urban Design and collaborating with a planning team.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning or related discipline.
• Experience in urban design or multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Knowledge of the UK planning system, design policy and placemaking.
• Experience producing masterplans and concept layouts with design documentation.
• Strong design, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience with land promoters, house builders or residential developers advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site appraisals and development capacity studies.
• Produce vision documents and development frameworks.
• Prepare strategic and residential-led masterplans.
• Develop concept layouts and illustrative schemes.
• Prepare Design Codes, parameter plans and development principles.
• Contribute to placemaking strategies.
• Prepare and contribute to Design and Access Statements.
• Provide design input into Local Plan promotions and planning applications.
• Work collaboratively with the wider planning team and external consultants.
• Support projects from initial concept and feasibility through the planning process.
• Liaise directly with clients, including land promoters, developers and house builders.
• Support the continued development and growth of the Urban Design service.
