Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Portsmouth is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to influence future Royal Navy capability development and lead System of Systems across Hybrid Navy programmes.

You will work with MOD and Royal Navy stakeholders, shaping long-term defence solutions, managing technical risk, and mentoring high-performing teams while delivering strategic bids and customer engagement.

Qualifications

• Extensive Systems Engineering experience in Defence, Maritime or National Security.
• Proven leadership of large System of Systems or enterprise integration programmes.
• Experience working with senior MOD or government stakeholders.
• Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent registration.

Responsibilities

• Leading System of Systems engineering activities across Hybrid Navy programmes.
• Providing strategic technical leadership to MOD and Royal Navy customers.
• Shaping future capability concepts and long-term defence solutions.
• Leading major technical bids, business development and customer engagement activities.
• Managing technical risk and assurance across complex programmes.
• Developing and mentoring high-performing systems engineering teams.
